I just finished this piece, and the final iteration was fairly seamless. Would have only taken a day if I'd done it that way from the start.
However, this is the third iteration, so in total the whole piece took nearly three weeks from start to finish, with lots of hemming, hawing, and vigorous staring. Definitely one of those times where I'm like "... really?"
Legend has it that Michelangelo spent months staring at a block of marble and then one day, seemingly overnight, there was David. When asked how long it took he said 'months'... Did I just compare this painting to one of the great masterpieces of all time? No, at least not intentionally. But I like the story, and it kind of sort of loosely fits, right?
Here's the info and as always, email if interested
